Our contact with Tomasz started with genealogical research. Despite family information that part of our family came from Poznan, Tomasz was able to find that we instead came from villages near Torun. He met us there and we embarked on a day and a half journey to see the villages where our family lived and churches where they celebrated important life events. His research traced the family back almost 200 years. He contacted churches ahead of time and even knocked on doors of townspeople to find out more information for us. Solely because of his persistence and engaging personality, we received two personal tours of ancestral churches from the parish priests. On one occasion, after a 45 minute tour of the church, we were invited to the rectory for tea, cake and conversation. This was a highlight of our two weeks in Poland and would have never happened without Tomasz.Tomasz is knowledgeable, flexible, interesting, personable, and enthusiastic. He was not concerned about time but more interested in making sure that we saw all that we could see. Tomasz has a great sense of humor and speaks English very well. He was an excellent meal companion (encouraging us to try new foods too) and conversationalist. He has in-depth knowledge of the area and great genealogical instincts. His plan for touring was well organized so we could maximize the time we had. We recommend Tomasz without hesitation for both ancestral research and touring the Poznan/Torun area.

We found our new friend Tomasz on Trip Advisor and started communicating and planning our tour a few months before we arrived in Poland. He helped organize our trip from start to finish and was available on line or on the phone to answer any questions we had regarding lodging, tours, and transportation. As this trip was largely focused on searching for information about my ancestors, Tomasz did extensive research before we arrived. He identified locations where birth certificates and other important documents were likely to be found. Tomasz then set up meetings with church and government records offices so that we could meet with them when we arrived. He provided transportation, driving us around Poland (1600 km or ~1000 miles!) to each of the cities where my ancestors were born and raised. In each of the cities that we visited - Warsaw, Krakow and Poznan (and many small villages) Tomasz also took us on walking tours of important sites and provided in-depth information on the history of the area.Having a local guide who knows the language, customs and history of the area made for a much smoother and richer experience. We would have never been able to communicate with the church staff or government workers without the assistance of Tomasz. His persistence and charming personality ensured that we were able to access as much information as was available. Tomasz even had one church volunteer searching archival documents that dated back the 18th century!Tomasz provided this service at an affordable price, especially considering the complexity of the work needed to locate ancestors living a century ago! He did it all with a great sense of humor and treated us like friends instead of clients. The only drawback to this tour was that my husband and I visited more bakeries and ate more baked goods in one week then we would have typically done in one year. ;) In all honesty, we loved the paczkis, Pope's cake, and Polish pastries that Tomasz encouraged us to try! We are having terrible withdrawals and wish we were back in Poland because we can't wait until Fat Tuesday! Also, all the restaurants we tried in Poland were wonderful, the food (and beer and wine) was delicious and extremely affordable! All the hotels we stayed at were 5 star and very comfortable.If you would like to take a tour to learn about where your ancestors lived, or just to see the beautiful country of Poland and learn about its history, we would unequivocally encourage you to contact Tomasz and his company Poznan Tours. Min son och jag hade en fantastisk eftermiddag med Tomasz. Hittade honom av en slump och slängde iväg ett mail. Han engagerade sig direkt och gav oss massor med bra info. I found the Poznan Tours website and had Tomacz do a genealogy search and a tour of WWII battle sites in and around Poznan. I also had him book travel between cities on our 8 day Polish tour, 2 day Prague, 2 day Salzberg, and travel in Italy. He is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Poland and specifically Poznan. He found the ship upon which my great, great grand parents departed Poland for Louisiana and cleared up some misconceptions I had grown up with. Tomacz is a very likable fellow, is very accommodating, and is fun to be with. I will book another trip with him in the future.

Tomasz took us on an awesome walking tour of the city, showing us the coolest restaurant spots and young people hangouts. Also, he showed us many interesting historic facts about the castles and founding of Christianity in Poznan. He told us where the best croissants are and the best beer. We were late for the tour however he was very patient and understanding, had a great attitude. I learned a lot in a fun way, his tours are great for budget and time saving travellers. He went to university in this town, knows a lot about it, and it shows. He's funny, bilingual, and informative. I highly recommend him to everyone and anyone.
